Leaping for Joy
Sometimes all it takes is one person to leap first.
It had been five years since she’d moved to the New World. It was different to Earth, but some things never change. Public transport still made her want to scream. How could a rocket be running late? It’s a literal rocket!
She loved her self-cleaning kitchen and dehydrated food prep, but sometimes missed having fresh flowers. Water usage was strictly monitored in the colonies.
But the low-gravity made up for it. It was like a trampoline park, except you floated instead of falling. As an ex-gymnast, she grinned every time she bounded outside, flipping through the city like a superhero. Everyone else walked in their gravity-adjusting boots and avoided her gaze.
Then one day, as she landed on a corner, hair tousled and breathless, she heard a whoop. A young man flipped towards her, laughing. Their eyes met with shared recognition. Another kangaroo in a world of wombats.
